Couple Facing Murder Charge For Death Of OKC Boy In House Fire

A man and woman will stand trial for the death of a 7-year-old boy, who died in a house fire after the couple burglarized his home.

A man and woman will stand trial for the death of a 7-year-old boy, who died in a house fire after the couple burglarized his home.

The crime happened back on April 28. Police found the body of 7-year-old Adrian Avalos inside his home after neighbors called 911 to report the blaze.

His death was later ruled a homicide because the couple, 26-year-old Paulina Cruz and 19-year-old Julio Nevarez burglarized the home before starting the fire.

On May 17, police took Cruz and Nevarez into custody after a traffic stop at 22nd and Goff. Investigators had received information implicating the two were connected to Adrian's death.

On Wednesday the district attorney's office told News 9 that the two will stand trial for the counts of murder, burglary and arson. No other information has been released at this time.
