The Buddha Mind Monastery in Oklahoma City will be offering weekly classes in Beginning Zen Meditation and Buddhism starting January 9, 2014.
According to officials with the Monastery, the class introduces Zen Buddhism and fundamental teachings of Buddha, as well as different methods of meditation.
Officials say they believe the classes will teach people how to release their stress and gain wisdom.
The class focuses on having a positive outlook in life, and gaining peace of mind. Officials say students gain knowledge of the Truth, origin of suffering, how to face and deal with events as they occur in each person's life.
Lessons include "What is Buddha," "Karma and Causality," "The Four Noble Truths," and more.
The classes are free and open to the public. They are taught by Venerable Jian-Mao, the abbess of Buddha Mind Monastery.
The Monastery is located at 5800 S. Anderson Road, Oklahoma City.
