We are wrapping up 2013 with fantastic weather across Oklahoma! Highs will climb into the lower 50s this afternoon with sunny skies and breezy south winds. After the sunsets, temperatures will quickly drop. Expect mid 30s by midnight to welcome in the New Year.
We will kick off 2014 with another powerful cold front arriving Wednesday afternoon. Winds will ramp up behind the front gusting to 30 mph out of the north. Temperatures will likely drop through the evening hours in northern Oklahoma. Moisture will be limited with this system, but there is the potential for some light winter precipitation. Best snow chances will be along the Oklahoma/Kansas border and we could see accumulations up to one inch in this area. Flurries to possibly a dusting are expected along and south of I-40, including the OKC Metro.
It will turn much colder on Thursday as highs struggle to make it into the mid 30s.
From the News 9 Weather Team, have a happy and safe New Year!
