Thieves break into a car lot in the metro and make off with all of the keys. The burglary is keeping the company from doing business.
"I had no idea they would have taken all of the stuff that they took," said Janice Edwards.
Edwards and her husband are reorganizing their offices at Kars & Kars in Bethany after thieves ransacked the place. Edwards explained they once had a car stolen off the lot but never anything like this. The keys, titles, and other paperwork for all the cars were missing.
"We couldn't do business."
Surveillance cameras captured the suspects casing the place around 1 a.m. on Dec. 30. The suspects loaded a stolen truck with machinery, tools, computers and the business files.
"A very gutsy crime to pull off," Bethany Police Lieutenant Ed Cangiano said.
The burglary at the business took over four hours to complete. Detectives used surveillance images to track down Steven Watters. Police arrested Watters and his alleged accomplice Brian Morrissey after finding some of the stolen items inside Watters home.
"I would like to see them in jail for a long time," said Edwards.
Edwards says it will likely take her a long time to organize the business and open it again.
"All of our files were taken apart and put in garbage bags."
Detectives also recovered stolen items inside Watters house that connected him to two other burglaries. Watters and Morrissey were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of burglary and larceny of a vehicle. Both have posted $14,000 bond.
