Winds are gusting 35 to 45 mph across northern and western Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. This combined with very low relative humidity has created an extremely high risk for grass fires today.

The Fire Zone in red, which includes the OKC metro and most of the state, is the area for greatest concern. Even the smallest spark could ignite a fire that would be very hard to contain.

The winds will begin to relax after 6:00 PM this evening, and will be light at 10 to 15 mph out of the northwest overnight. Sunday the winds will switch around out of the southwest at 15 to 30 mph with higher gusts.

The amount of moisture in the air will be even less on Sunday, so the fire threat will be even higher.
