Local authorities were involved in two high-speed chases overnight in Oklahoma City.

The first pursuit ended near S.W.24th and Penn. The second ended near I-35 and N.E. 36th. We know someone involved in one of those high speed chases is waking up at the Oklahoma County jail Tuesday morning.

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, at about 10 p.m. Monday, a deputy was working a DUI patrol when he tried to stop someone for a traffic violation near S.W. 25th and Kentucky.

Instead of stopping, the driver kept going and led the deputy on a high speed chase.

Eventually, the suspect's car spun out. However, the suspect ran away from the scene and ditched a sawed off shotgun. But the deputy caught up to him and found an open container of alcohol in the car.

The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Raymundo Vargas Quintanilla. He has been booked into the Oklahoma County jail on charges of aggravated eluding a peace officer, possession of sawed off shotgun, operate a motor vehicle without a license, obstructing an officer, DUI, left of center, and transporting an open container.

The deputy involved in the chase also ended up with a gash on his head.

Around the same time on the city's northeast side, another chase was going on. Several agencies tried to stop someone behind the wheel of a truck.

When the chase ended near I-35 and N.E. 36th St., that truck caught on fire.

Police used fire extinguishers to put it out. And despite Oklahoma City police officers, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and OU Medical Center Police were all involved in this one.

Police have not said why the chase started or if anyone was injured or arrested. Either way, it was a busy night on our streets for local authorities.
