Firefighters now have a large grass fire under control in Edmond.

The fire started at North Coltrane and East Sorghum Mills roads just after 2 p.m. Monday near several homes. The fire threatened at least one home and burned entirely around it. Firefighters were able to contain the flames and save the home.

There were no hydrants in the area so firefighters had to bring in tankers. No injuries are reported.

At about 2:40 p.m., Edmond fire crews responded to another grass fire burning along I-35 just south of Danforth. This one appeared to be pretty small, only burning a couple acres.

However, the fire did manage to make it to some cedar trees, causing quite the fire display and disrupting traffic for a short time. Crews had the fire contained after that.
