A series of pictures we brought to you on News 9 are being shared all over the world.

The images of Rheann, Riley and Ainsley, three young girls fighting cancer, were taken here in the metro. Lora Scantling is one of the women who snapped the pictures. She said the girls did not know each other before the shoot, but they all had an instant bond.

The hope is to bring awareness to childhood cancer.

"I just wanted to do something that reached out and touched people and created an emotion," said Scantling. "I feel like we got a picture that said a thousand words."

The photo is touching people all over the world. Since we posted the story on and News 9's Facebook page Wednesday morning, it has been shared on Facebook nearly 90,000 times, and received more than 400,000 "likes" and about 14,000 comments.

The girls' moms all met for the first time last week for the shoot. They said they all feel blessed to be a part of this poignant moment in time.

"To everyone else out there who's wondering why we took these photos, it was a great project. It's something that gets the word out," said Valerie Franklin, Rheann's mother.

"When you think of cancer, you typically think of adults of having cancer. I'm glad that people are seeing that there are a lot of kids out there struggling and fighting," said Bridget Hughey, Riley's mother.

One of the girls said she had fun taking the pictures, but the lights were a little bright.
