The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to find historic pictures or artifacts related to the agency for its history project.
"The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office is working on a history project. If you, your family, friends or acquaintances have any old photos or artifacts related to OCSO, we would love to have them or a digital copy", said Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel.
The Sheriff's Office has been in existence since the 1890's, well before Oklahoma became a state in 1907. However, officials say they have very few items in house to document the agency's history.
"These items we are looking for could be from the 1890s, the 1900s, during the Oklahoma City Bombing. Just historical photos involving the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office including people, vehicles, etcetera," Whetsel said.
If you have pictures, documents, artifacts and displays related to the Sheriff's office, you can scan and email them to mmyers@okcounty.org, direct message them through the Sheriff's office's Twitter page, or use the #OCSOHistory. You can also contact Public Information Director Mark Myers at (405)-713-1029.
