A man led Oklahoma City police on a high-speed chase with a 4-year-old in the car Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.

According to police, officers were trying to stop a vehicle that matched the description of a stolen one near N.W. 80th and Harvey Avenue. However, the driver took off. That's when the pursuit began.

Police say the suspect vehicle ran numerous stop signs. The chase ended when the suspect's car crashed into another vehicle at a stop sign near N.W. 80th and Walker.

The driver of the other car was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Shavis Lamar Barnes, tried to take off on foot, but didn't get far. Officers say they could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Barnes' breath.

Police found Barnes' 4-year-old son in his car. He was not injured.

It turns out Barnes' car was not the stolen one. But he was taken into custody on several charges, including DUI, leaving the scene of an injury accident, aggravated attempt to elude, child endangerment, and resisting arrest.
