A grass fire spread to two vehicles, including a fuel truck, in a Deer Creek field, Friday evening.
Crews were called to the scene near S. Santa Fe Ave. and W. Charter Oak Rd., just before 5:30 p.m. Large black plumes of smoke could be seen billowing from the area for miles.
Authorities tell News 9 that a grass fire in the area spread to the vehicles, a fuel truck and a dump truck, that were sitting in the field. The fire caused the fuel tanks on the vehicle to explode.
The terrain in the area of the blaze limited the threat of the fire growing too large and no structures were under threat.
Fire crews had to remain at a distance initially, worried that more explosions may result from the fire. No one is believed to have been injured.
The location of the fire was approximately two miles north of the Oak Tree National golf course.
Fire crews were able to get the fire under control shortly after 6 p.m.
