Windy And Hotter This Week, Chance Of Rain This Weekend

Getting hotter and staying windy for the next few days, but decent rain chances are on the way by the weekend.

Lows tonight will be in the upper 60s and low 70s with strong south winds at 15 to 25 mph.

Tuesday look for sunny skies with highs in the mid 90s and even triple digits in western Oklahoma. Winds will stay up out of the south at 20 to 35 mph creating a high wild fire risk.

The heat continues Wednesday and Thursday, but cloud cover and rain chances increase by Friday dropping highs back closer to normal.

By the end of the week, we have an opportunity for several days of rain as a cutoff low approaches from the west. These types of storms get disconnected from the main jet stream and have a tendency hang around and produce off and on rain and storms for days and days. With our drought situation this is really good news! However, the uncertainty with cutoff lows also means the exact location of heaviest rain will wobble back and forth, and at this time, is hard to pin down. It won't rain constantly for the entire Memorial Day weekend, but at least a couple rounds of showers should be expected.
