Four people were arrested in Choctaw after a K9 deputy found meth inside their vehicle Monday night.
According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, a deputy was called to assist Choctaw police with a burglary in progress. Police say they received several 911 calls about four people, later identified as 69-year-old Richard Mitchell, 55-year-old Connie Mitchell, 61-year-old Craig Ritchie, and 46-year-old Lenora Maxwell, trying to break into a home in the 1500 block of S.E. 29th Street.
When the deputy arrived, he spoke with the suspects who stated they were trying to break into a relative's home to get water for their truck. The deputy contacted the relative who confirmed the suspects' story.
Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, the deputy said he conducted an investigation and learned that all four had previous criminal records. The owner of the truck, Connie Mitchell, gave the deputy permission to search her vehicle, according to the Sheriff's office.
K9 Cairo was brought to the scene and alerted that there were likely drugs inside the truck. Deputies then searched the truck and discovered nearly 12 grams of meth, three hydrocodone pills, and cash.
All four suspects were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on several charges, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
