An elderly Oklahoma City woman received a new bed after the bed bugs in her apartment were exterminated for free.
Last year, Nancy Nussle's apartment complex sprayed her apartment for bed bugs for free. She says that problem caused her to get rid of all of her furniture except for a modest cot she's been sleeping on.
Recently, the bed bugs returned, and Nussle was heartbroken because she says her landlord wanted her to pay the $400 it would cost to spray for bed bugs the second time. Nussle lives on social security, and said there was no way she could pay it.
On June 6, the spraying was done free of charge, and Nussle received some monetary support, as well as a new couch from strangers.
The Heartland Sleep Center also donated a new mattress set, bed frame, bed bug mattress protector, sheets and pillow to Nussle.
"You keep thinking you can't get any lower, and then something great happens," said Nussle. "I'm looking forward to life now."
