ME Releases Cause Of Death For The Village Murder Victim

The Medical Examiner's Office has determined the cause of death for a woman who died after being sexually assaulted in The Village.

The Medical Examiner's Office has determined the cause of death for a woman who died after being sexually assaulted in The Village.

According to The Village police, a woman called 911 on Friday, June 13 and said she and a friend had been sexually assaulted at her home.

Both women were taken to the hospital. One of the victims, later identified by the ME's Office as 24-year-old Rachel Rogers, was pronounced dead on arrival.

On Tuesday, June 17, the Medical Examiner's office determined Rogers' cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. Her manner of death is homicide. An autopsy report is not ready at this time.

After a day-long search for the suspected killer and rapist in The Village, police made an arrest late Friday night. The Village Police confirmed Albert Johnson was booked into jail.

Bethany Police first arrested Johnson at the Hammond Manor apartments on 38th Street, for allegedly driving under the influence. Police say Johnson gave himself up without a fight.

The second victim is still in the hospital being treated for her injuries. Her child was inside the home during the attack but was not harmed. Police tell us she was dating Johnson.

According to a search warrant released on Tuesday, June 17, police say they found many items including the victims' teeth, weight-lifting weights, rope, a blood stained shirt, two knives believed to be used in the assault, and a blood stained bandana and towels, at the scene of the crime.
