Suspect Arrested Following Shawnee Police Standoff

Shawnee police have arrested a suspect who broke into a home and refused to come outside, setting off a standoff Monday morning.

Shawnee police have arrested a suspect who broke into a home and refused to come outside, setting off a standoff Monday morning.

According to police, officers were involved in a standoff at a home located near W. Independence and N. Beard.  Police say the suspect broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house. He then pulled up the floorboards and hid underneath the floor.

No one else was in the house.

Just after 11 a.m., officers took the suspect into custody. No word yet if he will face any charges.  

Police have not identified the man at this time.
