One person was killed after a shipping container fell on top of a truck on the northeast side of Oklahoma City, Thursday afternoon.

First responders were called to the scene near the 6600 block of NE 23rd St., just east of Sooner Rd.

Authorities say a container full of heavy exercise equipment fell off of a military transport vehicle and crushed a pickup, killing one person inside of the vehicle. A second person is being treated. The second person's condition is unknown.

Police shut down NE 23rd St. from Sooner Rd. Air Depot Blvd. while crews worked the scene.

The container became dislodged when the military transport tried to go under a low railroad bridge. Crews from Midwest City and Oklahoma City responded to the accident.

A family friend contacted News 9 Thursday evening to inform us that 49-year-old William H. Santee of Harrah was the person killed in the shipping container accident.

The identity of the second person who was injured has not been released.
