Cyclists, walkers and runners will have eight more miles to roam.

Tuesday, city officials announced plans for another bike path that will stretch from Lake Hefner to the river bike trails. The $13.8 million project will provide a 12-foot wide path for both walkers and cyclists in Oklahoma City.

The trail will be a separate path and not the shoulder of any roadway, however it's an urban bike path, so there will be several street crossings. The biggest crossings will be at NW Expressway and NW 39th. Photos show the bike path goes along Hefner Parkway and I-44.

“I think that's wonderful, that thrills me to death,” said Lea Jensen, who cycles around Lake Hefner.

Construction on the project is set to begin by the spring of next year, according to Oklahoma City officials.
