The OKC Zoo animal care team worked with the Gorilla Species Survival Plan, through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, to determine the best plan for Kamina. They decided to move Kamina to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden in Ohio to be introduced to a surrogate gorilla mother and eventually a gorilla family. The Cincinnati Zoo has a stable family group with the potential of Kamina being raised with other young gorillas.
