Oklahoma City police arrested a man on a kidnapping complaint in connection to the disappearance of a 4-year-old boy on Sunday.

According to police, at about 5 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the report of a missing child at a home, located at 725 S.E. 10th Street. Quinton Thompson, 4, was missing from the home and officers immediately began searching for him.

The child's mother told News 9 she went out with some friends Saturday night and her mother was watching Quinton. But she said when she got back to her home just before 5 a.m. Sunday, Quinton was gone.

At about 11 a.m., police said they learned that the child was safe and had been dropped off at a southeast Oklahoma City convenience store. Officers spoke with the clerk and learned that a man walked into the store and turned the child over, telling the clerk to call police. The man then left the store before police could speak with him.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., police released surveillance photos of a man dropping Quinton off inside the convenience store, hoping to get him identified. Quickly, officers received word that the man was 56-year-old George White of Del City. Investigators spoke with him Sunday night, and ultimately arrested him for kidnapping.

According to police, White had taken the child from the home without parental permission. He did not know the child or family that lived there.

According to an affidavit released on Monday, White went to Quinton's home and knocked on the door. He told police that he knew someone who had lived there about a year ago, and that he did not know if that person still lived there.

Quinton, police said, answered the door. White said he has never seen the child before. But he went inside the home and sat on the couch. He did not attempt to locate anyone in the home.

Police said White removed the child from the home without any parental permission. He then took the child to his home and kept him for about six hours.

According to police, White later decided to return the child. But after seeing police vehicles, he dropped the child off at the convenience store and asked the clerk to call police. He then left the scene before police could speak with him.

During the incident, police said White did not make any attempt to notify the child's mother or police. He reportedly told investigators that he dropped the child off at the convenience store to avoid police or arrest.

White is being held on $100,000 bond at the Oklahoma County Jail.
