A driver was killed after crashing his car into a semi and a toll gate on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike Monday night.

Bridgecreek Fire Department, Tuttle EMS and Mediflight were called to the scene at the Newcastle toll gate.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) also responded. The Mediflight landed on the roadway and transported the driver of the Camaro from the scene to OU Medical Center.

Northbound lanes were shut down at this location for at least two hours until about 10 p.m. Traffic was reportedly being diverted into Pike Pass lanes.

Troopers said 29-year-old Tristin Jourdan of Edmond was speeding in his Camaro in the northbound lanes when he hit a semi, a cable barrier, a curb and then a steel beam canopy support at the toll plaza. He was ejected from the car following the crash.

Jourdan was airlifted to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

There was also damage to the toll plaza as a result of the crash. The beam that supports the east wall was struck.
