Enid Homeowner Fights Off Pistol-Packing Intruder

The victims in a violent home invasion got an up close look at the suspects.

In fact, they said it was too close for comfort.

"I was laying [sic] in bed dead asleep and next thing you know, I felt a presence standing over my body and I looked up and it was a gun in my face," Tamara Reed, 21, said. The man behind that gun, Emilo Singleton, 25, gave her specific instructions not to move or scream for help unless she wanted to die in front of her newborn baby.

"He tied up my feet first, then he tied up my hands," Reed explained. She said she felt helpless as he then taped her mouth shut.

Reed told police Singleton repeatedly demanded money, but she had none to give.

"I was beyond freaking out ... just praying to God someone would show up," she said.

Her boyfriend, Marciano Delacruz, 26, showed up to the house in the 1100 block of W. Rupe, soon after Reed was bound and gagged.

"When he walked in my heart dropped, 'cause I knew what he was about to face and I couldn't even warn him," Reed said.

She didn't have to warn him, Delacruz said he immediately felt something wasn't right.

He began looking around the house and saw his girlfriend tied up on the bed.

"As soon as I seen [sic] that the dude jumped out from behind me and pistol-whipped me," said Delacruz.

A fight ensued.

Delacruz said Singleton pointed a gun at his face, he struggled to get it away, and Singleton fired two shots hitting the wall.

No one was hurt, and Delacruz said he was able to unmask the suspect.

"I recognized him ... you know, Enid is small, so you know everybody," he said.

Delacruz took Singleton's name to police, along with a description of his alleged accomplice, 20-year-old Mariah Failing.

"We were able to track all of that to who we were dealing with," Enid Police Department's Captain Jack Morris.

Morris said officers picked up Failing walking down Oklahoma Avenue, Thursday night.

By early Friday morning, officers spotted Singleton pushing his kids in a stroller near 10th Street and Chestnut.

Morris said Singleton admitted being at the victims house. "He also gave his version of the story," said Cpt. Morris.

Police placed both Singleton and Failing under arrest on complaints of first degree burglary

Authorities said they are being held in the Garfield County Detention Center.

The arrest was a relief to the alleged victims. "I hope he pays for what he did," said Reed.
