A Del City Church Treasurer Accused Of Embezzlement

A Del City church treasurer is accused of embezzling more than $80,000 from the congregation.

Police said she was using the money for her personal expenses.

Del City Police told News 9, 41-year-old Shanda Norris-Glover, has been a member of Praise Assembly Full Gospel Church for nearly 20 years.

But for at least the past two years, they said she's been mishandling the churches money.

It was back in December when church leaders noticed bills weren't getting paid and they were behind on a number of utilities.

“She was paying her own bills, but she wasn't paying the church electric bills,” said Lt. Ted Kleber.

Lt. Kleber said when Glover was brought in for questioning she said she was given permission by the church pastor to use the church's money, to not only pay her utility bills, but buy groceries at Wal-Mart, and even make purchases at Home Depot and Dillard's.

“She wouldn't admit to total wrong doing. She believed that she had the permission from the apostle. When we brought the pastor in, absolutely not,” said Lt. Kleber. “She was not authorized to use any of the credit cards for any expenses.”

In fact, Kleber said they have her on surveillance video at Wal-Mart and Home Depot using the church's credit card for personal use.

“This is documented evidence. There is also a lot of cash that came in,” said Lt. Kleber.

This is why Del City Police believe Shanda is responsible for misusing much more than $80,000.

“We believe it's a lot more than that,” said Lt. Kleber. “Probably closer to the range of $100,000.”

News 9 stopped by Shanda's home in Del City where a man immediately told the crew to leave.

Police said Shanda was fired soon after the church noticed discrepancies with church bills.

The church's pastor, Fannie Wallace was in the process of preparing for Wednesday night service, as well as telling the congregation about the embezzlement when News 9 reached out.
