Police are investigating after possible human remains were found in southeast Oklahoma City, Tuesday morning.
Oklahoma City police officers responded to the scene at Peebly Road, just south of Interstate 40. The investigation started following a tip police received on Tuesday morning.
For several hours investigators combed through a wooded area off the I-40 and Peebly road. Video from Jim Gardner in Bob Mills SkyNews 9 showed detectives pulling away branches and other brush covering the possible human remains spotted.
“They responded to a report of found human remains. There is not a lot to report on it at this point because the case is still very new,” said OKC Police MSgt. Gary Knight.
From across the street, investigators could be seen digging and taking pictures around a spot once hidden by the tree line near the access road; A spot only a couple of feet away from drivers exiting Interstate 40.
The access road remained open while homicide detectives investigated.
There are still a lot of unknowns in this investigation like what was found and the cause of death.
Knight couldn’t comment on the condition of the remains or how they were discovered.
