Members of the 45th Infantry Brigade are now heading back to Ft. Bliss Texas. The troops were spending the holidays here at home.

More than 2000 National Guard troops spent the last 10 days in the state after Operation Holiday Homecoming raised the $600 thousand needed to bring them home.

"These soldiers get to spend the holidays with their families, they get to say their one last goodbye before we have to go overseas," Brigade Commander Gen. Myles Deering said. "The benefit is just indescribable."

The 45th infantry Brigade will spend the next five weeks training at Ft. Bliss before being deployed to Iraq.
