Mayor Mick Cornett told Oklahoma City business leaders "the best is yet to come" Thursday during his annual state of the city address.

The mayor focused on changes residents can expect in the future like a new convention center and other developments in downtown.

"Few cities get the opportunity to rebuild a new portion of their downtown from scratch and we intend to make the most of it," he said.

As part of the Crosstown Expressway relocation project, officials are planning developments from Interstate 40's current location south to the Oklahoma River.

The mayor also urged residents to continue the progress of MAPS projects by approving a proposed sales tax extension for improvements to the Ford Center.

"A decade of momentum hangs on the balance of that March 4 vote," Cornett said.
