Vince Gill is headed back to elementary school.
The country music star will return to Cleveland Elementary March 27 to play a benefit concert for the school's auditorium. In 2007, Oklahoma Today named Gill Oklahoman of the year. In honor the award, the star wanted to have a benefit concert for his elementary alma mater where he performed on stage for the first time.
"Think of it as Vince sitting on a stool playing his guitar, and talking to the audience, probably telling stories about his upbringing," school principal Mary Coughlin said.
Tickets are $495 a piece. The proceeds will be used to renovate the school's auditorium which needs new curtains, lights and a sound system.
First graders at the school are learning about painting and music to prepare for the concert.
"He is a musical singer," said Jordan Anderson, 7. "He is very famous and he earns money for Cleveland."
Tickets are available at OklahomaToday.com.
