Edmond man arrested for bogus kidnapping plot, police say

A 20-year-old is in serious trouble with the law after he allegedly faked his own kidnapping.

Grant Phillips is charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony, said police.

Police said Phillips had two armed men kidnap and rob him and his ex-girlfriend last month, all in a ploy to win her heart back.

"The victim here is the young lady, she had no idea what was going on" said Glynda Chu of the Edmond Police Department. "He was trying to be the big hero in this and hopefully she would reconsider."

Phillips now faces serious charges and police are still looking for his two accomplices.
