High fire danger returned to the state Thursday.

Firefighters battled a 15 acre -grass fire in southeast Oklahoma City.

Afternoon temperatures are warming into the 60s and 70s ahead of a cold front moving in from the northwest. Winds are also up in speed again today from the south to the southwest at 15-25mph, with frequent gusts around 30mph. These factors combine with low relative humidity to make for ideal fire danger weather.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for parts of west-central and southwest Oklahoma until 7PM Thursday, where the highest fire danger exists. However, much of central and south-central Oklahoma also have an elevated fire risk.

Winds will weaken overnight and not be as strong on Friday. Despite the cold front moving through the state Thursday, Friday's temperatures will continue to be well above normal for late February.
