Like most of us, police departments all over Oklahoma are dealing with high gas prices too. Police officers can't turn their cars off and keep them in the garage to save fuel.

Small town police departments keep burning gas and their budgets whenever their cop cars are out on patrol.

Assistant Police Chief Billy Crow is in charge of Tecumseh's 12 cop cars. He said the police department is worried about the rising gas prices.

"Got us in a crunch now a little bit, but if goes higher it will really be hard to deal with," Crow said.

Crow said his department works extra money into their budget for high gas prices, but this year that budget is getting thin fast.

Crow also said if gas reaches $4 a gallon, he may have to consider cutting back on patrols, plus seek extra transportation money from the city.
