Heavy Rain & Severe Weather Continues

Heavy rain continues to affect much of the state overnight into Thursday morning.  Some locations in the state have already received more than four inches of rain.  Guthrie accumulated 4.4" as of 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, with more expected overnight.  Northwest Oklahoma City accumulated 2.2" as well, and the amount is expected to rise.

The heavy rain that fell Wednesday, combined with the expected overnight precipitation, will create flash flooding conditions.  The eastern two-thirds of the state remains under a flood watch through Thursday. 

Severe thunderstorms affected primarily the eastern half of the state Wednesday evening, with many tornado warnings issued for storms capable of producing tornadoes.  One tornado was reported in Choctaw County in far southeastern Oklahoma.   

Severe thunderstorms will continue to be possible through Thursday morning across much of the state, with the main threats being large hail and damaging winds.  Isolated tornadoes will continue to be possible in North Texas and far Southern and Eastern Oklahoma.
