Her house is without lights, but she does have heat. With heat, she has figured out a way to also have fresh food.
"It hasn't been a really big issue," Beaver said.
Using skills developed from her family, Beaver is applying them creatively to cook.
"I come from a long line of cooks," Beaver said.
Improvising, she is using her floor furnace as a burner.
"It wasn't that odd, put two and two together. It's hot and the food needs to be cooked. If not, we'll lose it," Beaver said.
A full roast with potatoes and carrots isn't the only meal she has fully cooked on the make-shift burner.
"Well, I stated yesterday with chicken enchiladas," Beaver said. "Last night it was homemade tomato soup and grill cheese sandwiches."
Beaver can only find one downside to the floor furnace cooking method.
"It's rather hot in here from cooking on the furnace because you have to keep it on high to get the food to cook," Beaver said.
