Cowboys ran the picket fence at the Hoosiers

I'll take credit for nailing that prediction. OSU was the better team and they more than matched Indiana's emotion. That was the key Monday night in Sun Devil Stadium. The Hoosiers seemed to be on almost a spiritual voyage to the desert in honor of their fallen coach. You knew they would be stoked. I thought if the Pokes could match that they would win fairly comfortably. Mission accomplished.

Indiana's lack of creativity on offense was just further evidence to the Big Ten's inferiority. Not a good sign for Ohio State. They were overmatched on the field and in the playbook by OSU. It'll be interesting to see if Rich Rodriguez can actually bring an interesting offense to the Big Ten. Watching that conference play football is like listening to a trash talking contest between Bill Belichick, Jim Tressell and Dennis Franchione. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

This OSU offense may not be "the most powerful in the world"...but they do have four future NFL players in Dean Blevins' opinion. I agree. I think Bowman, Savage, Pettigrew and Bryant will all get a shot in the league. Four skill guys on one offense that are NFL-bound. Not a lot of those teams running around this bowl season.

I asked Mike Gundy after the game to evaluate the job his play-caller did Monday night (which of course was Gundy himself). He said he was pleased and it felt good to be calling plays again. I then asked him if he was going to retain himself as Offensive Coordinator next year? He said no. We'll see if he means it.

Gundy got some criticism this year, and at times rightfully so. The way he handled the "I'm a man, I'm 40!" William Wallace routine was a bit much in my opinion. But the decision to move Zac Robinson to quarterback was the right one. He was awesome in Tempe. 372 total yards and five touchdowns. The state of Oklahoma was blessed with three of the most talented and most likeable QB's this season. It's hard to root against Robinson, Bradford or Paul Smith.

So congrats to the Cowboys. Impressive in a 2nd-straight bowl victory. That will leave a good taste in the mouths of OSU faithful this offseason. There's a big difference between 7-6 and 6-7.
