CHICKASHA, Okla. -- The family of a woman who was paralyzed was presented Friday with a $10,000 gift.

Michelle Watson was permanently injured after a large branch fell on her during last month's ice storms.

"I've been told I will never walk again," she said.

Members of the Chickasha Elks Lodge presented the Watson family with a check for more than $10,000 from a recent community fundraiser. All the proceeds will go into a trust fund to help pay hospital bills and future expenses.

"It seems like a large amount and it is, but in the scheme of things it's not because her life has changed; her house has to become handicapped equipped," said Lisa Hatchett, who helped raise the money.
