Sooner state represented on 'best companies to work for' list

Four Oklahoma companies were named in Fortune magazine's "best companies to work for" list.

American Fidelity Assurance, Chesapeake Energy and Devon Energy represented Oklahoma City in the list of top companies. Tulsa-based QuikTrip also was selected.

"We are very pleased to have been selected by Fortune magazine as one of the 100 best companies to work for in America," Aubrey K. McClendon, Chesapeake Chairman and CEO, said in a press release. "This award is a testament to our outstanding employees who make Chesapeake a leader in the energy industry and in the communities where we operate. We place a premium on creating a challenging and rewarding work environment where our employees can excel."

Fortune compiles the annual list with Great Place to Work Institute. After firms are nominated, researchers send surveys to employees, according to Fortune's Web site.
