Joe Clytus, Jr., is the vice chairman of the Oklahoma City public schools board and District 4's representative to the board.

If Cliff Hudson is terminated or resigns from his position as chairman, Clytus would fill Hudson's shoes. However, Clytus has his own re-election coming up on February 8. If Clytus loses to Stephen Shafer, his competitor, the board may have to find another new chairman altogether.

Clytus, a local utilities information consultant, was elected to the seven-member Board of Education of Oklahoma City Public Schools in 2000.

Clytus is also on the board of directors for First Security Bank. He is a graduate of OSU Tech in civil engineering, OCU in industrial arts, and Occidental College, where he earned a master's in urban affairs.

He previously worked as an assistant to OKC's city manager, budget director, and director of management service.
