New rating system for car seats

The federal government is making it easier for parents to buy the best car seats for their kids.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new "star" system to tell parents how easy a car seats are to use. According to the Secretary of Transportation,Mary peters, the new ratings will give parents a better tool to keep kids safe.

"We believe the new star rating system will help simplify one of parents' most important decisions, choosing the best safety seat that will protect their children in the event of a crash," Peters said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is publishing the ratings on their website at www.NHTSA.gov.
