A new poll suggests a statistically insignificant difference between support for Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton among Democratic voters on a national scale.
An opinion research poll from CNN showed Barack Obama with 49 percent of the Democratic vote in the head-to-head race and Hillary Rodham Clinton not far behind with 46 percent. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percent.
The Republican race for the White House has taken a different twist, with the poll suggesting John McCain is galloping ahead of Mitt Romney. McCain has the backing of 44 percent of those responding compared to Romney's 29 percent. Mike Huckabee has about 18 percent and Ron Paul is trailing with six percent.
A third of Republicans said they're convinced McCain will emerge from Super Tuesday as the clear winner, far more than see Romney on top.
But, more than half of the nearly 1,200 polled think the two dozen states voting tomorrow will not select a clear winner in either race.
