Norman, Okla. -- A new MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery is throwing a grand opening celebration in Norman and donating 10 percent of the day's sales to charity.

The new MaggieMoo's on SE 12th Avenue, in the East Village Complex, is celebrating its official grand opening on Saturday, March 8. The store will celebrate from noon to 11 p.m. and donate 10 percent of the day's sales to the Norman J.D. McCarty Center for children with development disabilities.

"We're thrilled to be a part of the Norman community," said co-owner Judy Rollins in a press release. "Our friends and neighbors have been huge supporters of this store since we opened last year, and this celebration is our small way of saying thank you and giving back."

The Oklahoma City metro franchises has been involved in a number of community activities, including donating 10 percent of their sales for two days in February to pay for Girl Scout cookies sent to deployed troops overseas.

Several "celebrity scoopers" are set to appear for the grand opening next week, including Councilmember Carol Dillingham, Councilmember David Hopper, and Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz dancers Jada, Jessica and Amy.
