Many students are packing their bags for a Spring Break trip, but a handful of helpful Sooners are choosing to spend their week lending a helping hand.
Five construction students from the University of Oklahoma spent their Saturday helping the Gonzalez family. The back of their house was so deteriorated, it was unsafe for them to use. The students teamed up with the organization Rebuilding Together to improve and renovate the area free of charge.
Volunteer Jeff Hirshburg said he's always enjoyed volunteer and mission work.
"It's a really good thing to come back and just do it in your own community and help out people living around you."
The Gonzalez family has lived in the house for 20 years.
