Thousands of Oklahomans are putting on their tennis shoes and walking.
The Get Moving OKC initiative began Wednesday with a walk.
Teams of walkers from neighborhood associations, companies, schools and nonprofit organizations committed to walk 2 miles a day, five days a week for 10 weeks for a total of 130 miles. The Oklahoma City Community Foundation will give walkers who finish 130 miles, $100 for their favorite good cause.
"All the money will go to charity in some cases the charities are the groups doing the walking," said
Nancy Anthony, of the community foundation.
Participant Eleanor Inglis said she is focusing on one day at a time.
"I'm not going to look at 130 miles," she said. I'm going to take it day by day. Two miles a day, I can do."
