A teenager leaped through a plate-glass window of the Downtown Plaza hotel in Tulsa on Thursday and fell seven stories to his death, police said.

Anthony Stewart, 17, was one of three young men who had gathered at the hotel room to do drugs, police said.

"Marijuana, possibly LSD," said Leland Ashley, a Tulsa Police officer.

Based on witness statements, police believe Stewart leapt through a closed window with what appeared to be heavy glass.  His body was found on a narrow overhang above the 2nd floor swimming pool area with glass debris nearby.

No one saw the 17-year-old actually jump out of the window. One hotel visitor, who was not in the room with the young men, saw Stewart about 20 seconds before the teen through the window. The hotel visitor told police Stewart was acting strangely.

"We do have an independent witness that confirms. There's nothing that would say he was pushed or anything like that," said Officer Ashley.  "For whatever reason, y'know, was it a plan, a suicide, or was it something; the reaction from the drug prompted him to do what he did."

The other two young men in the room could be arrested under suspicion for drug possession, but nothing in connection with the death, said police.

"It's classified as a suicide, but we still have to investigate it," said Officer Ashley. "Our hearts go out to the family and everyone else involved in this.  It's a very tragic accident."
