GUNPLAIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A small tornado has caused scattered damage in southwest Michigan.
No injuries were reported but authorities say several horses were trapped inside a barn that was damaged by the stormy weather early Wednesday.
The National Weather Service says one of its investigators went to the area and determined that the damage was caused by a small twister.
Consumers Energy says more than 6,500 customers lost power, primarily in Kent and Muskegon counties. Company spokesman says service is expected to be restored to most of them by the end of the day.
The Michigan damage comes as the weather service warns of strong thunderstorms Wednesday in parts of Texas and Oklahoma.
