It was a routine day in Shawnee Thursday, until an out-of-place jet arrived at the airport. On board were Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
"We were driving by and we were like, ‘Oh, there's the plane.' It was a pretty big plane," Jon Wood of Shawnee said.
Wood and his friends, Tanner Maston and Aaron Paris, admit once they got wind of the super-star couple visiting their city, they took the opportunity to skip a day of school for the event.
"Everybody was going crazy...I was like, ‘Aaron, we're not going to next hour,'" Maston said.
Armed with several cameras, the boys made it to the airport.
"When we went out, they were pulling in and we were like, ‘Oh my gosh, that's him'," Paris said.
Tanner was the only one to get a shot of what appears to be Angelina boarding the plane.
"Angelina got on right away. She didn't want to have anything to do with it, I guess," Maston said.
Pitt was born in Shawnee and still has family that lives in the city. The A-list couple stayed for only a few hours and made a B-line back to the airport. It was a short stay that provided plenty of action for these future paparazzi.
The boys' parents did know they left school for the sighting, and many parents pulled their kids out of school with hopes of getting a look at the glamorous life.
The movie-star couple has been spending the past few weeks in the Austin area, where Pitt films a movie called "Tree of Life."
PRODUCER NOTE: A source who called in to NEWS 9 suggests the supposed photo taken of Angelina Jolie boarding the plane is actually the family nanny. The information is however not confirmed either way.
