Democratic presidential hopeful and Senator Barack Obama denounced comments made by his former pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Speaking in North Carolina, Obama said he was outraged by Wright's comments Monday at the National Press Club.

Wright said attacks on him have actually been attacks on the black church.

The reverend came under fire earlier this year after a few of his controversial sermons showed up on the Internet.

Today Obama insisted quote - "the person I saw yesterday was not the person I met 20 years ago."

The senator from Illinois also said Reverend Wright's comments are not representative of what he wants his campaign to be about and or the black church's perspective.
