A severe weather risk continues throughout the day for the metro as thunderstorms move across the area.

Severe thunderstorms are pouring down rain on Johnston, Lincoln, Pottawatomie and Seminole counties Wednesday morning. The storms have not shown any tornado activity, but some are extremely electrical in nature.

A storm system over Seminole and Pottawatomie is firing off about 1,500 lightning strikes per every five minutes. The storms above Seminole are moving northeast, away from the metro. However, another patch of storms is striking Wichita Falls, Texas up to El Reno and moving directly northeast towards Oklahoma City.

The potential for large-sized hail and wind gusts up to 65 mph are present throughout the day.

A tenth of an inch of rain has already fallen on the metro and more is likely to come. The high today will be 70 degrees.
