Buses re-route to save gas

School districts across the state have felt the pinch at the pump, forcing some districts to make some changes.

Guthrie School District Superintendent Terry Simpson decided to re-route his gas-guzzling school buses. They'll now only pick up children a mile and a half from school sites.

According to Simpson, if a student lives outside the boundary, their parents will be responsible for finding alternative transportation.

Simpson said the school district also plans to eliminate four or five positions in the secondary school, eighth grade and above, to help balance the cost of gas.

Other changes could include larger class sizes and fewer elective classes offered.
