SAYRE, Okla. (AP) - Four inmates are under investigation in connection with the assault of 2 correctional officers at a private prison in Sayre.
A Correctional Corporation of America spokeswoman says the two officers, including one sergeant, were assaulted yesterday in a routine shakedown of a housing cell. Both were treated at a hospital and released.
Spokeswoman Louise Grant says the four North Fork Correctional Facility inmates were placed in segregation.
All four inmates are from the state of Washington and were sent to the western Oklahoma prison because of overcrowding.
Washington has 304 of its inmates serving time at the medium-security prison that is 130 miles west of Oklahoma City.
