EDMOND, Okla. - An Edmond man is urging bicyclists to wear helmets after he crashed his bike this weekend.

Ryan Schafer was going on his morning bike ride Saturday around the trails near Route 66 in Edmond when he fell over and landed on his head. He wasn't wearing a helmet. Schafer said he can only remember very few details.  He thinks he may have hit a rock before falling over the handle bars and landing on his head.  Drivers who saw the accident called an ambulance to help Schafer who managed to get away with some scratches and bruises.

"It's a no brainer now to go get one because you realize quickly how it could happen and how important it is to protect your head," he said. "When you start losing your memory on a bike ride, it's not worth it."

Schafer says he is doing OK after Saturday's crash and he will start wearing a helmet on his bike rides.
