Two lanes of Interstate 40 were closed for four hours Sunday as crews made emergency repairs to the Crosstown Expressway.
The westbound lanes were closed at Classen Boulevard while crews repaired a hole in the center lane, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
"The I-40 Crosstown bridge is a rather old bridge," department spokeswoman Mills Gotcher said.
Gotcher said the bridge requires frequent repairs because of its age and high-volume traffic.
The bridge is set to be demolished in the next decade as Interstate 40 is moved closer to the Oklahoma River. To track Crosstown repairs and learn more about the relocation project, click on the Crumbling Crosstown page.
